THE PLACES THEY CALL HOME

rights , malting , quality testing and
sensory evaluation . It also included
f ield visits with local barley farmers
as well as hands - on sessions with
our agronomy , production and
quality teams .
For our teams , this was a chance
to give back to the craft world they
proudly support .
In Pocatello , Idaho , our Great
Western Malting team brought
the craft beverage community
together for a three - day malting
course .
Local brewers , distillers and ,
for the f irst time , industry
media , came to connect and
learn about our operations .
Our Ethiopian team hosted
Dr Qu Dongyu , Director - General
of the United Nations Food and
Agriculture Organization .
The visit was a chance to
support the 60 , 000 smallholder
farmers in the Oromia region
whose livelihoods , resilience and
hard work form the backbone of
our barley supply .
Discussions covered some
important topics such as
agronomical practices , how to
empower farmers with better
agronomic training , and how to
build a future where communities
can thrive by enhancing their
livelihoods .
